From CARNdonagh in Inishowen follow the WAW (blue) sign 'N' (North) until you see the SANDROCK HOSTEL sign!

If coming direct to Sandrock Holiday Hostel from Belfast, Dublin or Galway get the Derry bus. Derry has local services to Carndonagh (CARN) Inishowen.

Do not catch the Donegal bus. This goes to Donegal Town which is 100km away.

Details of public transport to Malin Head is as follows:
John McKinley Buses leave Parnell Square, Dublin twice each day Monday to Saturday at 9-30am and 5-45pm and arrive in Carn [Carndonagh] at 14.05 and 10.20pm.
If travelling on one of these buses, phone before leaving Dublin for taxi details in Carn when** there is no bus connection to hostel. Buses return to Dublin at 7.20am each morning 4pm each afternoon and 3.15pm on Sundays.
Journey times 5hrs and cost around 24 return - students cheaper!
You can catch a Bus Eireann to Derry at regular intervals from Dublin, Galway or Belfast then catch the North West Busways (red bus) at Patrick Street Derry - opposite the Cinema at 3.10pm to Carndonagh (Carn) from where you can **catch the Inishowen Rural Transport bus to Malin Head (direct to the hostel on request) at 4pm daily on Mondays to Fridays. or hitch or hire a taxi.

**Inishowen Rural Bus Service: A Rural Bus service operates from Carndonagh to Sandrock Hostel (By request) Malin Head on Mondays to Fridays at 4pm (It returns at 11-45am on the same days and connects with buses to Derry or Letterkenny). See 'Transport'

Please note that we are not located in Donegal Town! We are at least 100km north of Donegal Town (at Ireland�s most northerly point) We are at the very north on the WILD ATLANTIC WAY and at a Basking Shark HOTSPOT

We don't accept card payments. We request cash payments on arrival please. There are ATM s in Carndonagh and all large towns. Cash-back can be arranged with the local supermarket in Malin Head. PLEASE NOTE--- We close our reception at 10pm and normally DO NOT accept new arrivals after 10pm (This is to avoid disturbing and upsetting guests who are asleep) WE STRICTLY ENFORCE THIS CONDITION even if a booking was made indicating an earlier arrival. Keys to the hostel are given to all guests who are booked in. There is no curfew.
